QQ190RTF with Taranis X9D+ and TBS Crosfire Micro Rx V2

Hello Anthony,

My setup is as per the title.

I’ve set up my radio to run on OpenTX 2.2V0010. My TBS Crossfire Tx long range is updated with the latest firmware, i.e. V1.57, hardware V1.02 and bootloader V1.05, so my Crossfire Micro Rx V2 is also updated with the latest firmware.

I’ve downloaded your Taranis X9D Plus model & settings files but I didn’t realise it was OpenTX 2.0.9.2 and from what I understand I require OpenTX 2.2 to run my TBS Crossfire system.  So I’ve only used your EEPROM_2_17.bin file, restored my EEPROM which updated well, so I’ve now all the models listed in my radio.  I hope your files will still be fine with my setup?

I’ve the TBS Crossfire set on SBUS and everything pairs as it should.  My QQ190 FPV system is also working well.  I’ve calibrated my QQ190 which all worked well except it did say that my pitch and I think it was roll was revised during calibration and I think my Arco switch is also reversed.

However, when I arm my QQ190 it all seems good but as soon as I raise the throttle it revs out and by returning the throttle to 0 it does nothing, just continues to rev hard.  I’m glad I didn’t have the props on for my first test!  While running when changing the pitch and roll it also seems to do nothing, but left yaw does make the drone kick to the left.

What am I missing?

I’ve seen one youtube “TBS Crossfire Micro TX setup on Taranis XD9+” although it is a different TBS Crossfire Tx, in the video it does say that I need to use BETAFLIGHT to configure the QQ190 to CRSF (crossfire).  However, the QQ190 instructions supplied with my QQ190 says DO NOT Flash with Betaflight?  Do I need to do this, use Betaflight to configure the QQ190 to Crossfire and what else do I need to do?

Regards,

James

Hi James,

I’ve added the details about OpenTX 2.0.9.2 to the product page.  Thanks for the heads up, We will work to get an update out on it soon.

All of the models should still work just fine with your setup- You will just have to upgrade your OpenTx version to the latest after installing the model files.

For the issue about the inputs, can you check to make sure that on the Receiver tab in Betaflight that when you roll right, the Roll goes to 2000uS, and when you Roll left, to 1000uS?

You should be able to verify that the channels on the Crossfire system are communicating to the QQ190 properly via this route.

If the channels are mapped incorrectly, you will need to change the channel mapping.

Try changing the channels to a different output via the mixing tab in your Taranis to rectify the issue.

If these are mapped properly, then we recommend running the RC Calibration wizard on the QQ190 again to retrain it.  You can do so by holding down the side button on the cube for 10 seconds. (Make sure props are removed)

Concerning the motors revving to full throttle with props off:

The motors will rev to infinity without props on if the quad is in angle mode. (The PID loop will continue revving motors to full throttle to try and get the quad to level itself.  If you want it to exhibit normal behavior with props off, try turning off angle mode and set the mode to rate mode)

Let me know if this helps to answer your questions.
