Setting up TBS POWERCUBE 2-IN-1 FPVISION

I am just installed my new TBS Powercube with FPVISION in the QQ190 Falcon frame, for my DIY build. Last night I was going through the rc calibration on the OSD. I got my sticks set, but I was having trouble with in the flight mode section of the rc calibration. My switch was reading the lower flight mode and the middle flight mode but the top position wasn’t moving. The OSD showed the flight mode bar stuck in the middle flight mode position and then “Calibration failed.”

1. Why would this be? I did not flash anything through betaflight yet.
2. Can I test fly it after I successfully pass the RC calibration before flashing on betaflight?
