#2 Motor stops working, having to Re-Calibrate BL Heli 12A ESC’s every day (which temporarily fixes problem). How to fix permanently?

Hi Everyone~

Relatively new here and hoping to get an answer to a vexing re-occuring problem.  Every few packs my #2 motor stops spinning (frequently leading to a crash).   Its alway the #2, and the others become out of synch and don’t quite start up at the same time.    I then hook it up to Baseflight, run a re-calibration to the ESC’s, and the motors all turn on que.  The problem then happens again a few packs.

My Setup:

  • QAV250 with NAZE32
  • BL Heli Blue Series 12A ESCs with OneShot enabled, set to Damping Light and High Timing
  • Emax 1806/2280 motors
  • Taranis Plus TX and D4r-ii RX

Using Baseflight, my configuration settings are:

1050 Minimum Throttle

1500 Middle Throttle

1850 Maximum Throttle

1200 Failsafe Throttle

1050 Minimum Command

TX Minimum Throttle set at 1085

I’ve heard there are ways to calibrate ESC’s via the TX (which I haven’t found specific instructions for and don’t seem to work) and also via the CLI in Baseflight (which I found examples to but weren’t specific to my equipment).

I have heard that possibly the “High Timing” BL Heli setting could be a problem in my setup.  I REALLY don’t want to have to take my ESCs out to reflash them or mess with the BL Heli settings in them.  Is there anything else I could try?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Mark

Hi mark, can you tell me if your ground reference wires are connected to your escs? Thanks!

I bet it’s a lack of grounds being connected on the ESC’s…Are you still having problems Mark? Let us know if you still need help. Connect your ground references on your ESC’s if they are not already and get back to us so we can move on to trying something else if needed. Thanks. -Chad
